Charles E Brown; a Manx Man at War

Isle of Man World war 1 History

This small website is dedicated to all those  proud Manx men who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in the Great War of 1914 to 1918, and particularly to the memory of Charles Edward Brown, 1896 - 1918.

We are fortunate to have access to Charles' records since many were destroyed in air raids on London during a later and much documented conflict. Thanks are due to Chris and Henry Walmsley and Sandra Billington  for their help in tracing the photograph of Charles in his military uniform.

Pierre Vandervelden has completed an excellent website on the Commonwealth War Graves in Communal Cemeteries in Belgium and France. To see details of Carvin, click here
